My day started at 4.00 am as usual when I started work on the computer, I was very keen to complete a very long belated blog post describing my very special birthday trip to the Seaview Wildlife Park, on the Isle of Wight.
Margaret was awake and out of bed at 5.00am, putting the final finishing touches to our preparations. Much final detail and preparation to be done for the start of our journey. I was busy securing the house, checking doors, windows and gathering the keys together.
Our suitcases all packed and labelled, with our name and cabin number.
We had a nice leisurely cooked breakfast together, I transferred the cases to the back gate, ready to load them. Our Saga car arrived at 8.45 am, right on time, and we were on our way to Southampton docks.
Six hours later we arrived at our destination, checked our bags through customs and boarded the Saga Sapphire. This is our first taste of this newcomer to the Saga fleet and our first impressions are very good, we are thrilled with our spacious cabin and everywhere the ship is bright and shining. We were also very surprised to learn that we have the services of a butler as well as our usual cabin steward, this is a first for us and we will have to make the most of our own personal, “Jeeves”!!
We have our very close friend Joy aboard and she arranged for us to dine with her, for the duration of this cruise, we have some other very interesting dining companions on our table of eight. We enjoyed a very long, leisurely meal, then caught the tail end of the evening show, before we retired to our cabin.
During the course of the evening, Captain Rentell informed us, we could be in for quite a rough night tonight as we approached and entered the Bay of Biscay.
