I had almost completed my blog post, wearing my tracksuit ready to visit the gym, when Margaret awoke and asked me to leave the curtains open before I left, to enable her to see our sail-away departure from Lisbon harbour. I noticed an orange glow on the horizon and I knew we were about to experience another beautiful Lisbon sunrise, I picked up my iPad and began taking a series of magnificent photographs.
We enjoyed a brilliant alfresco lunch out on the Verandah deck, although there was a stiff breeze, we ate an excellent meal straight from the grill. We sat in a very sheltered spot and enjoyed our first taste of outside relaxation in the sunshine, after our rough passage around the Bay of Biscay.
We relaxed with our books and took part in a quiz in the lounge, before we enjoyed a lovely game of carpet bowls, organised by the Cruise staff. There were about 10 pairs of passengers playing in the match and Margaret and I were runners-up.
Following this we sampled the delights of more afternoon tea and attended another amusing presentation from Judy Karbritz a performance poet and speaker entitled, “Where the Dickens did our Christmas traditions originate?” This was a fabulously funny, very interesting well researched trip, through the history of our Christmas celebrations.
We were both very relieved and happy to hear that Oonagh is back on board, although she is confined to her cabin with a broken shoulder bone, her husband Raymond dined with us and the atmosphere at table was visibly more relaxed and happy.
Another interesting day of life on the cruising ocean waves.
