We enjoyed an early Christmas day breakfast today as we have a pretty full day ahead. The weather is still sunny and we are due to dock at Santa Cruz, Tenerife, at 5.00pm today.
After our breakfast we dressed informally to attend a Christmas morning church service, led by Rev. John Eade, who communicated the message and the spirit of Christmas very well. We heartily sang some more Christmas carols and enjoyed another beautiful song from the Filipino choir.
We then changed into our very formal attire to prepare ourselves for a Christmas Day Cocktail Party in the company of our ships Captain, Phillip Rentell. The champagne flowed, the canapes were available in great profusion, the Saga Sapphire Trio played beautiful music in the background, and the Captain delivered a very entertaining speech.
The evening commenced when we met up with Janet and Joy and some more friends, for a pre-dinner drink, to celebrate Janet’s birthday. Then a very light dinner in the dining room, where Janet was serenaded by the waiters singing Happy Birthday, in the traditional cruising way, accompanied by a waiter playing a guitar. I filmed the whole thing on my video camera and we will send a copy to Janet when the cruise is over.
